Acceptable use policy
On this page
Pat may not be used for unlawful, deceptive, abusive, or provider-restricted activity.
Prohibited conduct
Do not use Pat to commit fraud, deceive customers, impersonate another person or business, test stolen credentials, evade provider controls, distribute malware, interfere with Pat or another service, or facilitate activity that violates applicable law.
Do not submit transactions without customer authorization, split transactions to evade limits, misuse refunds, create misleading payment links, or use Pat to move funds without a genuine sale of permitted goods or services.
Restricted businesses
Activities involving regulated financial services, money transmission, gambling, adult content, weapons, controlled substances, counterfeit goods, intellectual-property infringement, sanctions, export controls, or other high-risk categories may be prohibited or require documented approval.
Payment-provider restrictions also apply and may change. A merchant must not use Pat for an activity that its connected payment provider prohibits or restricts without approval.
Investigations and enforcement
Pat may request records, restrict transactions or payouts, suspend features, or close an account when reasonably necessary to investigate suspected prohibited activity, protect customers, comply with law, or satisfy payment-provider requirements.
Pat may preserve and disclose information when legally required. Enforcement decisions may consider transaction patterns, complaints, provider notices, verification results, and other relevant risk signals.
Reporting concerns
Report suspected fraud, abuse, or prohibited activity to hello@paywithpat.com. Do not email card numbers, passwords, one-time codes, identity documents, or bank credentials.
Legal review status
This policy is an operational draft. Ernwell, Inc. must confirm restricted-business categories and enforcement procedures with qualified payments counsel and its payment providers before broad launch.
